Bibliothèque à la rescousse

Bibliothèque à la rescousse

Bibliothèque à la rescousse (Library to the rescue) is fun and free!

The Bibliothèque à la rescousse (Library to the rescue) program is intended for elementary school children. Through fun workshops, trained animators encourage children to discover the various tools available to them in a library.

Why offer this program?

By encouraging children to open their minds to knowledge, Bibliothèque à la rescousse (Library to the rescue) seeks to demystify reading and stimulate learning. Using play activities, an animator introduces children to research and helps them discover different fact-finding tools. Children also learn how to better assess the information they uncover.

Specifically, animators can show children how to:

  • Perform a search
  • Consult dictionaries and reference works
  • Use a table of contents or index
  • Navigate the Web and select relevant information

Using a creative and fun approach, Bibliothèque à la rescousse (Library to the rescue) helps elementary school children improve the quality of their research for school projects. Children who attend these workshops learn to master their relationship with books and reading. The program improves their perception of libraries and fosters their openness to using them often.
