In the context of Montréal being named World Book Capital, " Le Livre Show" provides a perfect opportunity for exploring the fascinating world of Québec literature and discovering its up-and-coming young authors. Hosted by France Gauthier, the program aims to connect with its audience.
The program opens with a book club: each week a different author discusses his or her book with reading enthusiasts from the audience. Following an interview with the author, book club members are invited to ask questions and exchange opinions.
During the second part of the program, regular contributors to literary publications and well-known figures who are passionate about books introduce viewers to authors and the latest publications. They share their opinions and insights, reveal little-known facts about the book community and discuss a variety of themes and literary genres, including fiction, sci-fi, short stories, essays and autobiographies.
During the last part of the program, an up-and-coming comedian plays a Colombo-style detective who investigates the various book-related trades, tongue planted firmly in cheek. Gauthier then wraps up the show by discussing some recently printed books and recommending a few titles.
The strength of this must-see show lies in the interaction with its audience and the credibility of its collaborators.
A journalist and reporter, Gauthier worked in the TVA newsroom for several years and recently co-hosted "Souper de filles." She also produced and hosted "l’Urbaine" on Canal Vox and is the author of a personal odyssey entitled "On ne meurt pas."
